| Abstract : | First member of freshwater Crustacea Amphipoda, Turcogammarus spandli S. Karaman, 1931 (Fam. Pontogammaridae), is discovered and described from the region of Monastery Hilandar on Mount Athos on Halkidiki peninsula, northern Greece. This species is redescribed, figured and variability of its taxonomical characters are given. The review of all known members of genus Turcogammarus G. Karaman & Barnard, 1979 and key to the species of this genus are presented. Taxonomical position of genus Turcogammarus within family Pontogammaridae is discussed. |
