Born on January 10, 1955, in Danilovgrad where he attended elementary school and finished High School “Slobodan Škerovic” in Podgorica. He graduated from the Faculty of Agriculture in Belgrade (Zemun) in 1980, at the Department for Fruits and Viticulture, and completed his postgraduate studies at the same Faculty, in the field of fruit pomology. He defended his Master thesis entitled "Influence of phytohormone IBA on rooting of kiwifruit cuttings" in 1989, and his doctoral dissertation "Research on agri-biological properties of introduced orange varieties in the Montenegrin subtropical zone," in 1995, again at the Faculty of Agriculture in Belgrade (Zemun). Since 1981, he has been working at the Center for Subtropical Cultures from Bar, which is a part of the Biotechnical Faculty in Podgorica. He was appointed the principal research fellow in 2006. In the period 1990 to 2009, he was the Director of the Center in Bar and founder of Applied Studies for the Mediterranean Fruit. He attended a three-month specialization course at the Institute for Subtropical Cultures and Tea in Maharaja in Georgia, and several study visits in Italy and Greece. He has published so far 58 scientific papers, participated, either in the capacity of a leader or assistant, in 18 scientific research projects. He is the author or coauthor of 24 major studies or projects. He was a mentor for 14 graduation and two master's theses. For outstanding contribution to the development of the Biotechnical Institute has received a gold medallion in 1997. He was the Chairman of the Association of Agricultural Engineers and Technicians of Montenegro, member of the Assembly of the Union of Agricultural Engineers and Technicians of Yugoslavia, member of the Editorial Board of the magazine Yugoslav Pomology, member of the Commission for the recognition of varieties of subtropical fruits at the Federal Ministry of Agriculture of Yugoslavia, member of the Council of the project for plant and genetic resources of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture of Yugoslavia, member of the Commission for Scientific and Research Projects of the Ministry of Science of Montenegro in the field of biotechnical sciences, member of the Assembly and of the Executive Board of the University of Montenegro, member of the Governing Board of the University of Montenegro, member of the Committee on Agriculture and Forestry of the Montenegrin Academy of Sciences and Arts, and was appointed the expert of the Federal Ministry for Development, Science and Environment for the field of citrus fruits. Today, he is the head of master studies at the Biotechnical Faculty in Podgorica, teaching at the III, IV and V years of undergraduate, specialist and master studies at the Biotechnical Faculty. He is a member of the Senate of the University of Montenegro. He published the books: Tangerine Unshiu (independently), and the Subtropical and Tropical Fruit together with Mihal Nikolic, PhD and the Exotic Fruits with Milos Sturanovic, MSc. |
